We’ll set the stage for this workshop by mapping out basic bony landmarks and musculature of the head, neck and jaw in a relevant, palatable format. You’ll also learn the movements of the muscles in question as we move through the class.
This anatomy portion is not meant to intimidate but rather to help you gain body literacy by building upon the experience of living in your body and what you may already know about basic anatomy. No previous anatomy knowledge is necessary and there won’t be a quiz!
This brief anatomy portion (15-30min) will be followed by the active self-massage part of the session (60-90min). We’ll take what you’ve just learned and overlay it with simple, effective rolling techniques that you can easily do at home as spot treatments or part of your regular routines.
All therapy balls will be provided for rolling during class. Please wear comfortable clothing you can get up and down off the floor in. Bring water and a notebook if you like.
Class will be in-person but recorded for your future reference.
This particular session of the 4-part series is excellent for people with TMJ, general jaw tension or clenching, tension headaches, limited neck range of motion, or chronic neck pain.
