What are essential oils?
Essential oils are the highly concentrated extract of a plant's naturally occurring oil. The oil is cold pressed or steam distilled from the leaf, flower, rind, bark or root of the plant and condensed for our use. To a plant, this essential oil is part of their defense; it can ward off nibbling creatures, bacteria and other harmful adversaries.
Why essential oils?
Everyone and their mother is talking about essential oils right now and for good reason! Used as part of burial rituals, to treat malaise and create perfumes, essential oils have been around since some of the earliest civilizations such as those of Egypt, Greece and India. Essential oils offer physical and emotional support as well as natural alternatives to conventional products such as cleaners, medications and air fresheners. Diverse in application, they have the power to soothe an upset stomach, ease a headache, brighten your mood and rid a surface of stickiness.
Why doTERRA essential oils?
The essential oil industry lacks regulation by an organization such as the FDA. This means that it is up to the company to decide how transparent they are with consumers about how their product is made. doTERRA holds itself to a certified pure therapeutic grade (CPTG) standard that is third party tested. Plant material is harvested from the plant's native environment making the chemical components of the oil true to its most organic form and thus most potent and beneficial for our use.
